Drive: Drum Set Method Book One
This is the perfect book for beginners. Drum set music is pretty easy to read. Because these books are example-driven, you won’t find a bunch of fluff. There are tips and instructions along the way, but expect a lot of examples that slowly progress, adding more and more rhythms to each beat. So, prepare to play a lot of enjoyable drum beats! This book starts right from the beginning with the most basic first drum beat and slowly progresses up to an intermediate level, giving the new student everything they need to play songs and jam with other musicians. It is possible to use this book if you are learning on your own, but because the book is example-driven, it is a good idea to do a little research on how the drum set works.
Drive: Drum Set Method Book Two
This is an intermediate-level book designed to introduce more rhythms, including many variations of quarter, eighths, and sixteenths (single hand or RL), along with their equivalent rests. Additionally, open and close hi-hats and the use of crash cymbals. The book becomes more challenging as the variations are slowly combined and moved around, providing a great way to learn and practice. Furthermore, by the time you reach the near end of the book, there are solos that, if completed, will show you have a comprehensive ability that will help you play most songs in rock, country, metal, pop, hip-hop, and any other common styles. You should start with book one of the series before using this book, unless you have played for a while and can play beats repetitively that have some syncopation in them.
Drive: Drum Set Method Book Three
Now it gets challenging! Firstly, book 3 has every rhythmic division of a beat that you can imagine. Many drum books will show beats with variations between the bass drum and snare drums to produce many drum beats. But the hi-hat or ride cymbal will remain a steady quarter, eight, or sixteenth. In this book, the variations happen on all lines! Moreover, you can be assured that the examples sound great, and the audio for every example is right here on this website, so you can be sure you are playing correctly. Finally, you should be pretty well versed in playing drums or reading drum set music, including counting, before attempting this book.
